German Defense Contractor Establishes First U.S. Office at Quantico Corporate Center
Cathy Riddle, Public Information Manager, Stafford County
STAFFORD, VA. American Rheinmetall Munition, Inc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rheinmetall AG, will establish its first office in the United States at the Quantico Corporate Center in Stafford. Established in 1889, Germany-based Rheinmetall AG is an international leader in the automotive component and defense products markets. The corporation employs approximately 18,500 persons worldwide and had annual sales of $3.5 billion EUR in 2005.
The new American division will employ four to six persons in the 7,500 square foot facility at the Quantico Corporate Center. They will manage production contracts for the manufacture of 40mm training ammunition under a five year contract with the Marine Corps Systems Command based at Quantico.
The environmentally friendly and non-toxic munitions will be produced and assembled by several sub-contactors within the United States. “We looked at several sites, but chose the Quantico Corporate Center because of its location just outside Quantico’s gate, and the fact that the Silver Company presented the best value,” said Patrick J. Gallagher, representative for American Rheinmetall Munition. The building is slated for completion in November, 2007. Developed by the Silver Companies of Fredericksburg, Va., the Quantico Corporate Center is located along Interstate 95, just 600 yards from the South Gate of Quantico.
The entire development will include 1 million square feet of Class A office space. They can be custom-tailored to meet DOD Minimum Anti-Terrorism Standards and SCIF Compliance. For more information, contact Phillip Baxter at 540-548-1142 or visit www.QuanticoCorporateCenter.com.
